Rude users = Rude site?

Posted on Oct 12, 2009 - 2:54 pm by Tina in WTF? | No Pit Stops

Nah. I’m guessing when the FrugalReader site was created, the founder didn’t intend for users to be such…uh…snits? I’m fairly sure that the majority of the users there are friendly. Just not the ones I was subjected to. After the swaptree debacle, I decided not to stick around for more. Joined 10/5, had my fill on 10/10.

I’ll stick with BookMooch.com and Paperbackswap.com.

Hopefully Nursejulie and people like her will learn:

(1) If a user emails you to ask if they can mail a book later than the norm, that is what they are doing. Asking you a question. It’s not intended as some way to slight you. It’s not a solicitation to be read the riot act about the rules of the site. Would it be so difficult to say, “no, I really need it now?” I’m sorry – was cancelling the trade supposed to teach me a lesson?

(2) Life gets in the way. A lot. For a lot of people. I can’t think of a single time I’ve had the desire to belittle someone who asked me if they could ship a book at a later time – and it happens a lot. Did I mention A LOT? Unfortunately I don’t get this sort of consideration in return sometimes, but as a rule – people can’t help it if they are natural born asshats. You can’t cure stupid.

(3) Be nice and give people the benefit of the doubt. If you can’t, then take meds, scratch your mad place and get glad, join a help group, whatever.

Enough soap box today…
